When 19 tornadoes hit Cincinnati on April 8, it was a stunning and unprecedented occurrence. Never before had that many storms struck at once. Power outages swept across the Tri-State, and trees and power poles snapped under the force of 90 mph winds. The day served as a reminder about tree removal in Cincinnati. We can never fully predict when a storm may take down some of the old-growth, vulnerable trees that thrive across this region. Massive storms, whether they are merely high winds or full-blown tornadoes, are commonplace our part of the Midwest. We may forget that Tornado Alley is a legitimate designation, until storms such as these tear apart structures, roads, and forests across the area.
