You do not need to toss out your old Christmas tree after the 25^th! There are many alternatives. Landscaping companies suggest that you can recycle it, through curbside recycling. You can compost it, as thin evergreen branches make an ideal base for a new compost pile. You can convert that tree into firewood. You could put the branches into your fish tank, giving your fish places to find shelter and relax. You can turn your tree into mulch for your garden – simply remove the branches, and then spread the bits all over your yard. The needles that come off will help the ground hold moisture. You can lay the branches from your tree on the ground under perennial plants, to protect them from upcoming frost. Or, if you want to get extra-fancy, you can cut the trunk into two-inch discs, and use those evergreen discs to line your walkways or flower beds as pathway edging.
