A bulldozer could help accomplish your goals in one afternoon. A chainsaw might make the reshaping of your land a much more attainable result.
Remember the Sun
It rises in the east, sets in the west. But too often, people do not consider the position of the sun when they think about their landscape design. Know when certain parts of your yard will get light, and when they will not. Keep in mind what you will see from different parts of your house at key times. Where is the light at breakfast, and at dinner?
Connect Your Spaces
Think of your yard as an extension of your house – these are just uncovered rooms where you and your family live. Connecting the parts of your yard, and visualizing how people move from one “room” or one area of your yard to another, will make it more welcome. Think of the flow where people will walk, and the paths that feel most natural and most inviting.
