These days, everyone feels the need to stretch their budgets a little further. Rising costs have hit everyone across the country. Here in Cincinnati, we know that homeowners are feeling the pinch of rising food and energy prices. And all too often, these rising costs get passed on from businesses to clients, as well. We can’t help with the price of eggs or gas, but we can help you reduce the cost of your tree and lawn care, without sacrificing excellent results.
Tackle Small Problems
There is no better piece of advice we can give you than to abandon any sort of “wait and see” approach with your trees. Small problems are faster and cheaper to handle than big problems. EVERY. TIME. When finances get tight, homeowners will tend to look past small tree problems in the hopes that they’ll go away on their own, or maybe they’re imagining things, or maybe these issues can just wait until the bank account is a little more full. But, we promise, trimming weak branches is easier and cheaper than a middle-of-the-night emergency tree service, and handling a small pest infestation is easier than having to deal with a tree removal. This is absolutely a “deal with it now so you don’t have to deal with it later” situation, however counterintuitive that might be.
Take a Look
When was the last time you REALLY looked at your trees? You’d be amazed at how many problems can be spotted, and rectified, early, quickly, and cheaply, before they balloon into massive, expensive issues. From lack of water to pest infestation to rubbing branches, taking a good look at your trees, at least once per season, is the first, simple step in preventing large tree care bills down the road.
Set Up a Schedule
The saying goes, “an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure”, and that is 100% applicable when it comes to caring for your trees. To take an extreme example, there’s no question that pruning your trees in the fall every year will cost much less than a single, catastrophic, middle of the night emergency tree service call. One of the most frustrating things about being an emergency tree service is that many of the urgent callouts we have could have been completely avoided if the homeowner had maintained their trees with a regular care schedule. (We can help you devise a schedule for the care of your trees.)
Choose the Right Trees
This piece of advice might be coming to you a bit too late, but it’s good to also keep it in mind for the future: some types of trees simply require much more care, and more expensive care, than others. Choosing to plant “the right” trees for your area, your yard, and your budget, can be tremendously helpful in keeping costs down over the years. Generally speaking, choosing tree species that are indigenous to your area, which grow slowly, and not to too great of a size, are all good ways to keep your tree care costs down.
Call in a Trusted, Local Pro
This is the least intuitive piece of advice we’re going to offer – but a lot of times, calling in a professional to handle a problem is actually the fastest and cheapest solution. This is for three reasons. First, we know what we’re doing. We can evaluate and tackle a problem, often on our first try, because we’ve probably handled it before. Second, we have specialized equipment (if needed) that allows us to get the job done right, right away. Third, hiring a professional tree service probably isn’t as expensive as you think. This isn’t always a “you get what you pay for” situation – many top-notch local tree services will quote you a price that might truly surprise you. If you’re in the Cincinnati area, it’s worth asking to see if we can impress you with our cost-effective services.
