Six Reasons to Remove Tree Stumps

tree stump removal

Some people like the look of tree stumps. We personally do not – we prefer grass and flowers in a yard to flat dead wood – but some enjoy the aesthetics of a stump.

Even if you do like the look of it, though, we recommend you remove that stump. Why?

  1. Untended Tree Roots Can Mess You Up

While it is unlikely that the roots from your felled tree will burst into water pipes, it does happen that these uncleared root systems continue to grow. They can soak up water from the ground, as well as moisture from leaky plumbing and irrigation pipes. If these roots continue to spread, it can harm the rest of your yard, and could warp your sidewalk or other walkways.

  1. You are Depriving Your Other Trees

If you don’t remove these roots, they could prevent other trees in your yard from spreading their own root systems. And if those trees do not have room to spread roots, they could topple more easily. Removing dead root systems leaves room for your other trees to be healthier and more prosperous.

  1. Stumps Spread Decay

That dead stump is rotting. It may not be visible or obvious, but it is growing mold and decaying. You do not want that putrid, rotting vegetable material messing up your yard.

  1. Pests and Unwanted Critters Love Those Stumps

As that stump rots, pests love the putrefying wood. Termites thrive on it. Unless you want to throw a party for carpenter ants, beetles, and other pests that bore into wood, get that stump gone.

  1. Stumps Can Injure People

Do you want your kids tripping over that stump and twisting their ankles? No. And you definitely do not want the neighbors’ kids hurting themselves and then suing you.

  1. Curb Appeal Can Suffer

Even if you like the stump look, most people do not. If and when you sell your home, the buyers will not want to see those nasty, dead stumps. Contact a company that handles tree removal in Cincinnati today.
